Do you think that a cluttered desk is a sign of creativity and productivity? If so you may be surprised to learn that a cluttered work space can actually decrease your productivity! Instead, try the following suggestions to help you keep your workspace neat. For starters, clean your desk at the end of your work shift.
Start with filing all of the paper on your desk. You should be putting it into labeled folders. If you put paperwork away out of sight it won't get lost, plus your desk will be much neater. If you need to refer to some information frequently, try making a small cheat sheet of info to keep under your mouse. This also cuts down on the paper on the desk surface.

Consider using a wireless printer. This prevents you from having to have the printer on or near your desk, and eliminates bulky cable clutter. Your printer can be elsewhere, freeing up your desktop.
You can also use a wireless keyboard and mouse. If you have these, you can move both mouse and keyboard without worrying about cables.
With this wireless technology, it is fine to store the items in your desk drawer when you are not actually using them. Again, this frees up desktop space.
If you need a way to store small accessories and items, try a pen cup. Use it for the pens and pencils you use regularly, and keep all of the others neatly put away in a drawer. Any digital media like CDs and DVDs can go into a notebook organizer for easy access.
Some people like to display photos on their desks. If you have photos, try to consolidate them into a single frame or photo cube. If you can't do that, try a digital photo frame.
This is a way to store and display photos, without taking up a lot of space. A digital photo frame also displays images that are sufficiently high resolution that it looks almost like high-definition television.
